April Meeting Minutes

Green Bay Preble Quarterback Club

Meeting Minutes 

  • Call to order:   6:05 in room 107, at Preble High school
  • Roll Call:  Coach Donart, Diane Nitti, Joanne DiSalvi, Jim O'Neil, Becky Sinclair, Julie & Paul Kinjerski, Sue Gallstrand, Pete Nelson, Patti Harrill, Julie Dougherty, John Chamberlain
  • Approval of Minutes from last meeting:
    • Minutes reviewed. Attendance from last meeting adjusted.
    • A motion to accept minutes with changes made and accepted.
  • Coach’s Report:

    • Coaches recently attended a Coaches Clinic
      • Shared practices ideas with area local coaches
      • Will begin a “platooning system” used by W. De Pere and Kimberly
    • Coach heard from a local businessperson that a man selling calendars with Preble Sports calendars on it approached him. This has been going on for a while, and people wrongly thought they were supporting Preble by purchasing advertising on this calendar. This man has received papers telling him he does not have permission from Preble High School to use its name and has been ordered to stop selling calendars with the Preble name or logo.
    • A local dentist who would like to get involved in the Preble Football Program and would provide free mouth guards to each player has approached Coach Donart. Coach will find out more about the opportunity.
    • Coach will talk with the athletic director to see if we have permission from the school district to proceed with fund raising for turf for the football field.
      • A grant from the USA Football association for $50,000 is available. Application for the grant will be completed when approval from the district office is obtained.
    • The Preble Sports Academy will be the summer weightlifting program for football players.
      • 2 session available and they will cost $13 each. More information is available on the Preble High School website.
      • There will be a football team meeting on May 18, and Coach Donart will go over the details with the team at that time.

    President’s Report:

    • No report

    Vice President’s Report:

    • Discussed By-Laws and changes to be made
      • Possible changes to the number of committees and their names
      • Will be discussed again at next meeting in preparations for changes

    Treasurer’s Report:

    • Kim was not present; no report given

    Secretary’s Report:

    • No report

    Membership Report:

    • Showed the new bi-fold and packet for the membership drive
      • Packet will include bi-fold, MTTN invitation, “Ad Form” to purchase a player ad for the program, a Preble Football Team schedule that includes contact info (designed for “refrigerator display”)
    • Becky will provide the MTTN sign-up sheets

    Apparel/Merchandise Report:

    • Pete Nelson brought samples of the apparel
      • All Nike items
      • A “Players Pack” will be available to all football players. It will include 4 items: shorts, a dry fit t-shirt, dry-fit long sleeve t-shirt, and a drawstring bag. The colors of these items will not be available to non-football team members. The pack will be at cost ($69).

    Banquet Report:

    • The banquet date will be set after the Packer schedule comes out.
    • It will be held on an open Sunday evening

    Old Business:

    • “Membership” dues and fundraising
      • A discussion was held to change the wording from “membership dues” to “fundraising requirement” in an effort to clarify the objectives of the Club; financially supporting the football team and its members
      • A free t-shirt given to the families when they have reached their fundraising goals
      • We will no longer offer a discount to “members” for apparel items
      • We will still offer 5 tickets free popcorn
      • Donation goal is $50/player or $75 for a family with more than one player
      • A buy-out or fundraising option will be available
      • Patti Harrill volunteered to oversee the fundraising
      • Contacting Seroogys’ and Quick Trip for fundraising opportunities
      • Possibility of highest fundraiser receiving a free sweatshirt
    • A motion was made by Julie Dougherty to add 2 fundraisers as an alternative to buy-out for players to reach fundraising goal and all players’ families will be members of the QBC
    • The motion was second by Pete Nelson
    • The motion carried dependent on current by-laws
      • Jim O’Neil will look over by-laws for next meeting

    New Business:

    • Team dinners- tabled until next meeting
    • Motion to adjourn made by Joanne Di Salvi at 8pm.
    • Second by Jim O’Neil
    • Motion carried
